Cultivation across the estate is guided by the land itself — its slopes, shade patterns, and elevation. Tea anchors daily life and operations, while cardamom, coffee, and pepper are grown where conditions naturally favour them, adding diversity and balance to the estate’s agricultural landscape.

High-grown tea, made at scale from Kuttikanam

Overview

Tea is the core of Bethel Plantations. Grown across nearly 4,500 acres at altitudes between 3,500 and 4,500 feet, our fields supply fresh green leaf to two modern factories within the estate. Together, they produce around 3 million kilograms of tea each year — processed, graded, and supplied in bulk to leading tea companies, canteens, and food businesses across the country

Our Blend — Bethel Premium Tea

From this same estate, we now produce our own single-origin label — Bethel Premium Tea. Carefully blended from select high-grown leaves, it represents the character of our region: brisk, aromatic, and balanced.

Available Formats:

  • Retail packs — 500 g, 250 g, and 100 g
  • Bulk supply for distributors and caterers

Type: CTC (Crush–Tear–Curl) blend, optimized for consistent strength and colour in every cup.

From Leaf to Finished Tea

Fresh leaf is brought in daily to our factories, where it passes through controlled stages of withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, and sorting. The entire process is designed for efficiency and traceability, ensuring uniform quality across large volumes.

Plucking

Fresh green leaf is harvested daily from the fields at peak maturity.

01

Withering & Rolling

Leaves are carefully withered and rolled to shape and release flavour.

02

Fermentation & Drying

Controlled oxidation and drying develop colour, aroma, and strength.

03

Sorting & Grading

The finished tea is graded for consistency before dispatch.

04

Grown in shaded pockets

Cardamom is cultivated under partial shade in select sections of the estate, where terrain and canopy provide the conditions this crop demands. Grown with careful attention to spacing and harvest timing, it is among our most distinctive crops.

Area: 600 acres

Annual Yield: 2,00,000 kg

Growing Conditions: Partial shade, high altitude

Mid-altitude coffee, steady and balanced

Coffee is cultivated across select mid-altitude sections of the estate, where gentle slopes and filtered light support steady growth. Both Arabica and Robusta are grown for consistency and balance, primarily for bulk supply. Rather than intensity, the focus here is reliability — beans shaped by stable conditions and careful harvest practices.

Area: 500 acres

Annual Yield: 1,00,000 kg

Varieties: Arabica & Robusta

Harvest Focus: Consistent quality

Slow-grown vines with natural strength

Black pepper is grown across select pockets of the estate, trained on natural supports and trellises where conditions allow slow, steady maturation. Cultivated as a complementary crop alongside tea and coffee, it adds depth to the estate’s agricultural mix. The result is pepper known for its strength and aroma — shaped by careful placement rather than scale

Area: 100 acres

Annual Yield: 20,000 kg

Quality: Rich oil content, strong flavor
